Publications: Stand-Alone and Island Applications of PV power systems in Developing Countries

This report is based on questionnaires completed by PV experts concerning the state of the photovoltaic industry in around 20 developing countries. These surveys were then supplemented with material from IT Power's own library of data.

The surveys aim to provide a basic understanding of the current state of the photovoltaic market in developing regions of the world. They also highlight the perceived market barriers to photovoltaic power systems and show which countries are best suited to PV programmes.

The survey focused upon past renewable energy programmes: how many there have been; how they were perceived by officials and consumers; what the local and national government policy issues have been; and how the programmes have affected the technical, financial and institutional infrastructure of the country.
