PVPS activities and products:

Non-technical barriers

The third major area of work was on Non-technical barriers and was targeted mainly at decision makers and government agencies.

A series of 4 studies were undertaken investigating:

  1. Barriers to the uptake of BIPV.
  2. Potential of BIPV gives a methodology for assessing the potential resource from BIPV systems in terms of possible energy outputs from a regions or country.
  3. Economics of BIPV looks at the economic costs and benefits that can be obtained from BIPV
  4. The Market Strategies report looks at various approaches that have been made around the world to encourage the uptake of BIPV and assesses the factors that lead to the most successful market stimulation programmes. The final report on market strategies was a very timely input to the UK study conducted by BRE in 2001 looking at ways in which the planned UK PV demonstration programme should operate.

Final reports on each of these studies are under preparation. An executive summary report on the outcomes of all 4 studies is being prepared and will be distributed in mid 2002.
