Demonstration
and Dissemination
The
final area of work was focused on demonstration and dissemination.
It included activities and events of general interested to
all interested in BIPV, with a number of outputs specifically
targeted at teachers and students interested in the topic.
A
final CD-ROM will be produced containing copies of all the
reports produced within Task 7 and mentioned in this web site.
This is expected to be available in August 2002. If you are
interested in obtaining a copy contact Rod
Hacker.
Teaching
materials and general information on BIPV
A
variety of materials for teaching or general information is
available including:
- An
interactive on-line tutorial on the basics of PV technology
from the demosite
at the University of Laussane. It is fairly short with lots
of images and is well worth a look for anyone wishing to
know more at about building integrated PV.
- A
CD-ROM intended for architects, with detailed teaching
materials on solar resources, photovoltaic technology and
applications can be ordered via the PVPS
international website.
- A
set of power point presentations focused on building
integrated PV designed to supplement text book information
with real examples will be available on CD-ROM later in
the year, contact Donna
Munro for details.
- Slide
sets illustrating BIPV projects in the participating
countries. A first set was produced in 1999 and is available
from Ecofys. A
second set is currently being produced and will also be
available from Ecofys.
Conferences
The
2nd World Solar Electric Building Conference was held in Sydney,
March 2002 under the auspices of Task 7 (the 1st World Solar
Electric Building Conference was held in Boston 1996 at the
end of Task 16 of the IEA Solar Heating & Cooling Programme's
work on Photovoltaics in Buildings. The 2nd World Conference
covered a wide range of topics:
- Policy,
Financing and BiPV
- Architectural
Issues in BiPV: Country papers
- Technical
and Institutional Issues
- Financing
Strategies and Market Transformation
- Emerging
Products and Integration
The
full Conference
Proceedings are available electronically.
Demonstrations
At
the University of Laussane in Switzerland there is a very
informative demosite where a number of pavilions each demonstrating
a different PV building integration technology can be seen.
The materials for these were donated by the manufacturers
and can be used to show potential users a real, small scale
example of the technology.
For
those unable to get to Switzerland to see the demosite an
excellent web
site is available which has technical details of all the
designs demonstrated.
Design
Competition
An
international design competition for PV products was run in
1999 by the UK representatives to Task 7. The UK was well
represented in the final results with the final winner being
Robert Webb of Robert
Webb Associates , entrants from the University of Southampton
and the University of Reading were also within the prize-winners.
