PVPS Objectives
- Contribute to cost reduction - through collection, analysis, exchange and dissemination of information on the technical performance and cost structure of PV systems and their applications, and through provision of guidelines for improvement of the design, construction and operation of photovoltaic power systems and subsystems.
- Increase awareness of PV potential and value - through collection, analysis and dissemination in appropriate form of information on key issues, such as markets, applications, barriers and success stories, and by bringing different PV stakeholder groups together (e.g. industry, utilities, policy, finance and so on).
- Foster PV market deployment by removing technical and non-technical barriers - by assisting utilities and other public and private users to develop strategies and implement high priority activities aimed at overcoming market barriers, and by developing methods for the evaluation of the value and benefits of PV systems.
- Enhance technology co-operation with non-IEA countries - by raising awareness and interest of multilateral and bilateral agencies, development banks and potential user groups in developing countries as to the technical and economic potential and best practice of PV systems. This includes promotion of quality assurance and standards measures.
